On Tuesday, May 15th, the New York Association of Black Journalists hosted its 24th Annual Scholarship & Awards Banquet Awards. The chapter honored more than 40 journalists, including Lifetime Achievement recipient Robert Naylor and the late Gil Noble, at the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center in Harlem.
The evening was hosted by WNBC's Pat Battle and Black Enterprise's Shannon Lanier. All proceeds went to NYABJ’s annual high school journalism workshop and its college scholarship fund. Felicia Romain and Annick Laurent, two of the top students from the chapter’s high school journalism program, received college scholarships.
Notable guests in attendance included Constance C.R. White, Essence Editor-In-Chief; Tonya Lewis Lee, attorney, author, producer and activist; R&B singers Melanie Fiona, Xavier Lewis and Mashonda; and Terrie Williams, author and founder of the Terrie Williams Agency.
NYABJ would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to make this year’s banquet a memorable evening.
