NYABJ Executive Board
2001-2003
Among its many programs
and activities, NYABJ holds professional
development seminars, panel discussions
on issues of interest to the black community,
workshops for high school students,
awards competitions to recognize excellence
in journalism, and fund raisers to provide
scholarships for aspiring journalists.
To date, the chapter has given more
than $55,000 in scholarships to area
students. NYABJ has also sponsored regional
NABJ conferences as well as press conferences
and news briefings with newsmakers.
As with most
volunteer organizations, much of our
work is done by dedicated members
serving on committees. NYABJ's committees
are Membership, Media Watch, Scholarship/Student
