NYABJ's
Year So Far
Just
joined NYABJ?
Or maybe you haven't been paying as
much attention as you'd like?
Well, here's what you might have missed
so far in 2002.
March
22 - Brothers Back to School
Each year, in a
companion program to "Take Our
Daughters to Work Day," many
NYABJ members go into area schools
to talk about what they do each day
at work. If you would like to volunteer,
contact Daphne
Young, co-chairwoman of the
Scholarship/Student
Outreach Committee. Learn more
and submit an application today.
March
21- Lunch with New York University
Students
NYU’s office for
African American, Latino, and Asian
American Student Services and the
Washington Square News, the daily
student newspaper, have been coordinating
"Making it in Media" --
a conversation series featuring media
professionals of color. Media professionals
come, have lunch with a small group
of students, and share work experiences.
We are inviting you to join us from
noon to 2 p.m. Topics range
from different mediums (newspaper,
print, television, online), internship
and career advice, and the like. If
you’re interested, please contact
Gretchen Weber at
gew208@nyu.edu or call (781) 223-0771.

ideas. On March 7, we will
discuss writing query letters and
book proposals to send to agents.
On March 14, an editor from
St. Martin's Press will guest lecture
about fiction and non-fiction book
