CALL FOR NYABJ BOARD CANDIDATES
The New York Association of Black Journalists will hold an election for its executive board in November 2023.

The deadline to submit the application is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.
The following positions are up for election: president, vice president-print, vice president-broadcast, vice president-digital/new media, treasurer, parliamentarian, secretary and member-at-large.
Elected officers’ two-year terms will run from Jan. 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2025.
To run for office and/or vote, your NYABJ membership must have been current as of May 1.
The election schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday, Aug. 16 — Call for candidates for NYABJ board.
- Friday, Sept. 15 — Deadline to request a paper absentee ballot, which will be sent and returned by postal mail. Voters are responsible for return postage. To request a paper ballot, please email election@nyabj.org.
- Sunday, Sept. 17, 11:59 p.m. — Deadline to submit application to run for NYABJ office.
- Monday, Oct. 2 — Deadline for election committee to certify and announce eligible candidates.
- Early/Mid-October — General-
body meeting/Meet-the-Candidates Forum - Thursday, Oct. 5 — Paper absentee ballots will be mailed to voters who have requested them.
- Thursday, Oct. 26 — Online ballots will be emailed to voters who have not requested paper absentee ballots.
- Monday, Nov. 6, 11:59 p.m. — Deadline for online voting. Deadline for paper absentee ballots to be postmarked.
- Thursday, Nov. 16 — General-body meeting/in-person election day. Those who voted online or submitted paper absentee ballots cannot vote on this day.
- Friday, Nov. 17 — Winning candidates will be announced.
